ANT+ broadcasting

This device can broadcast your rowing data over ANT+, in the same "Fitness Equipment" format a real rowing machine uses. Any ANT+ display that supports pairing to a rower, including most sports watches and bike computers, can pair to it directly. This works alongside, not instead of, the Bluetooth connection apps like ErgData use.

What you need

A spare ANT+ USB stick (an ANTUSB2 or ANTUSB-m), plugged into the same USB hub as the PM3. Without one, this feature stays inert and nothing else changes.

Getting a network key

ANT+ devices only talk to each other using a shared network key. It's free, but you need to sign up as an "ANT+ Adopter" to get one:

1. Go to thisisant.com/my-ant/join-adopter and create a free account.
2. Once signed in, go to thisisant.com/developer/ant-plus/ant-plus-basics/network-keys and accept the license agreement shown there.
3. That page lists more than one key. Use the one labeled the ANT+ Network Key, not the "public" network key. Only the ANT+ key gets recognized by real ANT+ watches and head units.
4. Copy it. It's 8 bytes, usually shown as a byte array like 0x12, 0x34, 0x56, 0x78, 0x9A, 0xBC, 0xDE, 0xF0 (a made up example, not a real key, just so you can see what the format on the page looks like; yours will be a different value). Plain hex (123456789ABCDEF0) and forms separated by colons, dashes, or spaces work too. Paste it in whatever form the page shows it, with no need to reformat by hand.
5. Paste it into the "ANT+ network key" field on this device's Connections tab and save.

You only need to do this once. The key is stored on this device, not shared anywhere else.

After you save, the Connections tab says whether the key it now holds is a known good ANT+ network key. If it says the key isn't one it recognizes, the most likely cause is a copy of the wrong key off that same page, or a partial paste. Nothing on this device is checked against the internet to work that out, and the key itself never leaves the device.

Once it's set

With the USB stick attached and a key configured, the Connections tab's ANT+ card shows "Broadcasting ANT+" once a channel opens. This usually happens within a few seconds of the stick being detected. Pair to it from your watch the same way you'd pair to any other ANT+ Fitness Equipment sensor.
